Michael Black, a 91-year-old Korean War veteran from Afton, Wyoming, who has dementia, was found and reunited with his wife after spending two days missing. The good news is that his wife accidentally spotted the missing husband on TV; he traveled over 200 miles to Salt Lake City.

Avril Black, 77, was deeply concerned and called the Afton Police Department, led by Officer Romberg. They searched multiple states, but Michael found his way from Afton to Ovid, Idaho, and then down to Garden City, Utah. That’s where the police lost track of him.

In the meantime, a kindhearted person found the missing husband and brought him to the Rescue Mission of Salt Lake.

On Wednesday night, Avril was still worried sick in Afton. She turned on the 10 p.m. news, and she was shocked when she captured Michael in the background of the footage during a report about Thanksgiving meals at the Rescue Mission.

Avril told the TV news, “I paused the TV, set it back, and yeah, sure enough, there he was! I mean it was so unreal, I saw the picture! I was so relieved; I actually slept that night knowing he was safe.”

In the afternoon, Avril was on her way to Salt Lake City to bring her missing husband home after it was confirmed that Michael was indeed her husband.

Avril thanked everyone involved, including KSL News, the police, the missionary, and the Rescue Mission, and said, “I’m speechless. It just blows me away that that happened. Boy, does he have some guardian angel looking after him,”
