A deaf couple well known for their unwavering commitment to helping others was the recipient of a fantastic surprise in a touching act of holiday compassion. Despite suffering major obstacles, East Idaho couple Kent and Marlene have dedicated years to giving back to their community. Their kindness was acknowledged this year in the most surprising way.
Kent and Marlene have made it their goal to help others. Despite their recent unemployment and deafness, their circumstances have never stopped them from being nice. As part of their routine service, they assist a deaf woman who is 97 years old. They come to clean her house once a week to make sure she lives in a secure and cozy space.
To thank the deaf couple for their kindness, a Secret Santa named Nate Eaton, a journalist with East Idaho News, decided to surprise them with two gifts. He went straight to their home with a sign language interpreter.
Kent and Marlene were shocked when Nate told them about the first gift: $1,000 worth of gas gift cards and $2,000 worth of grocery gift cards. The deaf couple were out of their minds when Secret Santa gave Marlene a box containing a check for $2,000 to help with their financial needs.
