Rock is still one of the most popular music in the world, yet it evolved over the time.
Despite it has transformed over the years, there are many people who choose the famous rock music of the ’60s and ’70s and artists like The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and The Beach Boys. Even if all these bands had a big effect on the history of rock, there are too many others who arranged the base of this music genre.
If you’re talking about the earliest form of rock music, you must talk about the phenomenal Chuck Berry.
Berry was an american singer, songwriter, and one of the leaders of rock and roll.
He has been nicknamed the Father of Rock and Roll, as he apply the standards and imported different elements into his music which came to describe Rock music. Chuck was between the first artists drafted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986. He motivated many young talented musicians that became legends, one of them is John Lennon of The Beatles.
This live performance fimed in 1972 between Lennon and Berry will teach you the true nature of rock music.
John Lennon and his wife Yoko Ono co-hosted the television show called The Michael Douglas Show in february 1972. And here we’re talking about one particular guest summoned by John, he is the famous Chuck Berry. They agreed to perform two of Berry’s compositions, “Memphis, Tennessee” and “Johnny B. Goode.”
Berry and Lennon performed with one mic and Yoko Ono played her bango.
Trailing them was the rest of the band. They performed “Memphis, Tennessee” and Berry was the lead singer meanwhile Lennon adjusted with him. Chuck even did his stamp duck walk as their instrumental break.
The band continues on to their next song after a little break.
They went through with the show by changing to “Johnny B. Goode” right after the commercial.
We can see Yoko playing her bongos and dancing to the song at the same time. Suddenly Berry’s strong and gravelly voice took the wildness out of the surface.
As well we can see the crowd loving the show and vibed with them while clapping.
Chuck was appreciative to see the audience’s reaction so he offred them another duck walk. Of course the show was inbelievable, although everyone seemed a bit worried about Yoko’s appearance.
The crowd were pissed off with yoko’s weird drumming and wrong noises during the entire performance.
The audience were irated that she had to add a stinging dolphin sound that was not amusing to the ears. And even Berry was astonished to see her scream, you can see an obvious turbulence expression on his face during the performance.
But throughout the show, they turned off Yoko’s mic without her knowing that.
unfortunately, she noticed that and they were obliged to turn it back on. But now when watching it you only can admit that all of these performers are legends and true rock stars.
They were performing in total harmony, it’s obvious to see how much everyone appreciated playing with each other.
Watching this on video makes you only wishing to be there physically to witness everything. It’s truely a performance of the century.
